Project overview:
The projects involved the demolition of the current surf life saving facilities section of the Surf Club and the construction of a two storey facility with gear storage on the ground floor and offices, meeting rooms and a members training area on the first floor. The works also involve the construction of a new club entry with accessibility upgrades to the forecourt of the Club.
This project is the biggest renovations taken on by the Surf Club in its history and are much needed works to allow the Surf Club to continue to provide its vital lifesaving services. The area provided the life savers a much needed training and members area that can be used by all members to greatly increase the sense of community within the membership.
Role on project:
The Driftwood Consulting team was appointed as the Project Manager for the project and also acted as the Superintendent for the construction contract. The Team was responsible for the management of the project from design through to construction and handover where they managed the design process, budgeting and grant applications to deliver a project that met the needs of the Surf Club. The Team also managed the tender process and the construction works themselves, acting as the Superintendent under the AS4000 Contract Conditions. As the project was funded by two separate State Government Grants as well as a SLSQ grant, management of grant conditions and regular reporting and PCG meetings with the State were also managed by the Team.
