Project overview:
The Roys Road and Bells Creek Interchange project for the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) improved safety for local and highway traffic, accommodated future traffic growth and improved connectivity between local communities.
The project involved an upgrade of the Bruce Highway intersection at Bells Creek including the replacement of two at-grade intersections with a single, grade-separated diamond highway interchange and the construction of Roys Road on the new alignment with a new bridge over Mellum Creek.
The works included preliminary works, electrical high-voltage civil works, earthworks, bridgeworks, pavement and drainage construction, highway median works, installation of road furniture, street lighting, ITS features, landscaping, and re-vegetation works. It also included substantial rehabilitation works on over 4km of the existing southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway.
Role on project:
The Driftwood Consulting team members were subcontracted to Aurecon who was appointed as the Superintendent for the project. The team undertook Contract Administration Services and worked collaboratively with the Contractor to successfully deliver a challenging project. The team was responsible for traffic, safety, environmental, and community management to achieve the clients time, cost and quality requirements of the project.
